The mother of Chechen opposition members Abubakar and Ibrahim Yangulboyev, Zarima Musaeva, is facing charges in a new case. According to the latest news, Musaeva, based on past events and accusations, is charged with attacking an FSIN officer. A 4-year prison sentence is being requested for her. This case is being heard in the Shali city court, and the prosecution has requested the charges to be implemented under Part 2 of Article 321 of the Criminal Code.
According to reports, while serving her sentence, Zarima Musaeva, for several reasons, caused disturbance to an FSIN officer last year. She admitted to scratching the officer’s neck during this incident and tried to emphasize the seriousness of the violations related to it.
The organization "Committee Against Torture" clarified that the evidence provided is accurate, with none of the witnesses seeing the attack, and on the day of the incident, FSIN staff did not have video recorders. Musaeva did not admit her guilt and stated that she physically had no ability to carry out the attack.
According to the charge, Zarima Musaeva could face up to 5 years in prison. Her indictment and ongoing investigation have led to new court proceedings. Zarima Musaeva is the wife of the former judge of the Supreme Court of Chechnya, Said Yangulboyev, and the mother of Abubakar Yangulboyev, the former lawyer of the "Committee Against Torture," and Ibrahim Yangulboyev, an opposition activist.
The accusations against Zarima Musaeva are related to opposition activities, as her sons manage the 1ADAT Telegram channel, which operates within Chechen opposition. The case is still being examined, and discussions on the explanations and requirements regarding the crime are ongoing.
