The tragedy that turned summer into sadness in Tashkent
Summer is one of the most beloved seasons for children. Kind sunshine, holidays, pools, celebrations... But at the same time, this season also brings invisible dangers. The fact that several children have drowned in water bodies in Tashkent over the past two months proves this, gazeta.uz reported.

According to official information, between May 12 and July 10, the Republican Emergency Medical Center received reports of 7 drowning incidents involving minors from different districts of the city. In four of these cases, doctors provided prompt and professional assistance, and the children were discharged home. Two children remain hospitalized. Sadly, one of them is in critical condition. One child, unfortunately, passed away.

The deceased child had been left unsupervised. He fell into a small pool located in the yard of his home. By the time he was taken to the hospital, doctors had already confirmed biological death. The Chilanzar district prosecutor’s office is conducting a pre-investigation into the incident. The children’s ages and the exact locations of the events have not yet been disclosed.

Unfortunately, some reports circulating on social media are exaggerated. For example, it was reported that two children had died. However, official bodies have so far confirmed the death of only one child. This has also been clearly stated by the General Prosecutor’s Office.

Doctors and emergency specialists emphasize that children can drown even in very shallow water – less than 100 centimeters deep. The reason is simple – children often lack swimming skills, they cannot quickly sense danger, and may die before being able to call for help.

Experts appeal to parents: do not leave children unattended near pools, canals, ditches, large tubs filled with water on hot days, or even containers where drinking water is collected. A few minutes of inattention can lead to irreversible consequences.

Emergency services are working to strengthen preventive measures to avoid an increase in such incidents. For example, safety lessons for children are planned in schools and community centers. Additionally, new requirements are being introduced for child supervision at both private and public swimming pools. However, the most important and effective measure is the responsible attitude of parents.

It must not be forgotten that every pool, every water container – is not only a place of fun but also a potential source of danger when caution is lacking. Children are joyful and fragile beings who need the help of adults. Caring for them is not only a parental duty but also a shared responsibility of society.

Parents, please protect your children from unnecessary risks whenever possible. A moment of negligence near a pool can turn into a lifelong regret.
