Saudi Arabia has announced the construction of the world's first "sky stadium" — the NEOM Stadium. This stadium will be located in the city of The Line, 350 meters above ground level. Gulf News reported this.
The stadium is designed for 46 thousand spectators and will be equipped with systems that operate on solar and wind energy.
FIFA has given initial approval for the project due to its environmental sustainability. Construction is set to begin in 2027 and is planned to be completed by 2032.
The construction will be technically challenging due to its height and climate conditions. Nevertheless, officials hope to have the stadium ready by the 2034 World Cup.
The unusual design of the stadium is being widely discussed on social networks. Users have expressed their amazement at the project, but have doubts about its engineering reliability.
