Barcelona defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on home ground. In the sixth round of the Champions League group stage, the Catalan team initially conceded a goal but regained momentum in the second half, securing an important three points thanks to a double by Jules Koundé.
The home team controlled possession from the start, applying high pressing. Raphinha and Lamine Yamal were active on the wings, though there were few dangerous chances.
A goal scored by Lewandowski was disallowed due to Raphinha being in an offside position. This gave Eintracht their opportunity.
Brown’s pass to Knauff bypassed the defenders, allowing Knauff to enter the penalty area centrally and strike low. Joan Garcia couldn’t prevent the goal, and the visitors unexpectedly took the lead.
After halftime, Hans-Dieter Flick substituted in Marcus Rashford. Barcelona increased the pace and intensified the pressure.
First, Rashford crossed from the left flank, and Koundé, leaving Brown behind, headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. Later, the hosts took advantage of a corner kick from the left side.
Lamine Yamal sent a cross to the far post, and Koundé struck another header, directing the ball near the left post and into the goal. Thus, the defender secured his double and put Barcelona in the lead.
After the second goal, Barcelona slightly eased off. Ferran Torres and Frenkie de Jong tried to increase possession control in the midfield.
Eintracht, on the other hand, focused on crosses and set-pieces to level the score. In particular, Daud's cross from the right flank in the final minutes was dangerous, but Joan Garcia timely came off his line to block Baoyya's shot.
The Catalan team slowed the game tempo and safely concluded the match.
