Saida Mirziyoyeva proposes strengthening environmental control

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, proposed measures aimed at strengthening control in the environmental sector during a meeting dedicated to the ecological situation in Tashkent, according to the president's press service. Construction requirements and tree planting regulations in the country are set to be tightened.

Additionally, a system for air monitoring is planned to be established. These measures form the basis of a draft decree that will be reviewed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the meeting, state agencies discussed the main factors impacting the current state of the capital's air, as well as potential measures to reduce threats to the health of its residents and the environment. Based on the information gathered, the Chief of Staff proposed urgent actions and systemic solutions to prevent the recurrence of such situations.

“Protecting people's health is not a matter that can be compromised, and this principle must be shared by both the state and businesses,” the press service emphasized.

According to climate scientist Erkin Abdullakhatov, beginning on November 27, Uzbekistan’s air is expected to become cleaner due to changes in air currents.

As of 8:52 a.m. on November 25, the air quality in Tashkent has been assessed as hazardous. The primary pollutants are PM2.5 particles.
