
In 2024, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) allocated a record $2.26 billion to the Central Asia region. Of this amount, $938 million was directed to Uzbekistan.
These figures were discussed at the third "European Union–Central Asia" Economic Forum held in Tashkent. Over 400 participants from 32 countries attended the event.
Over the past seven years, trade between the European Union and Central Asian countries has quadrupled, reaching 54 billion euros. Additionally, the European Union remains a major investor in the region, making over 100 billion euros in direct investments.
Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev emphasized that relations with the European Union are steadily developing and are entering a phase of deeper cooperation. During the forum, discussions covered topics such as improving the business environment, attracting investments, developing value-added chains, training skilled personnel, and enhancing regional integration.
At the conclusion of the event, six agreements were signed in areas related to ecology, irrigation, geodata management, regulation, and safety.
