Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baxtiyor Saidov, received the credentials of Ali Muhammad, the first ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Uzbekistan. The minister announced this on his Telegram channel.

"We expressed our commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries in various promising directions," Saidov stated. Somalia recognized Uzbekistan's independence on February 17, 2004.

Diplomatic relations between Mogadishu and Tashkent were established in early February this year, with representatives from both states signing a declaration in New York City.

By 2025, Somalia's population is projected to reach 19.2 million, with a gross domestic product per capita estimated at $1,900. In the 1990s, this African country experienced a series of military conflicts.

Since 2009, a civil war has been ongoing in the country.
