In 1925, infamous conman Victor Lustig managed to sell the Eiffel Tower twice!

He convinced scrap metal dealers that the tower was going to be demolished and sold for scrap. One businessman, Mr. Poisson, was so convinced that he paid 70,000 francs. When he realized he had been scammed, he was too embarrassed to report it to the police.

A few months later, Lustig repeated the same trick and found another gullible buyer.
