The publication reported that on January 17, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation of measures to ensure employment and reduce poverty based on new approaches.
It is emphasized that by the end of 2025, it is planned to lift 1.5 million people out of poverty, provide employment to 5.2 million citizens, and transform 60 districts and cities into areas free from poverty and unemployment.
According to the author, 1.5 million people in Uzbekistan, along with mahalla bankers, will be placed in permanent jobs, and more than 2 million people will be involved in business. For this purpose, a total of 120 trillion soums of loans will be allocated for small business projects this year.
"This year, projects based on new approaches will be implemented in 6,472 mahallas, lifting 210 thousand people out of poverty. Special attention will be paid to remote, difficult-to-reach villages. The Association of Mahallas of Uzbekistan will be responsible for instilling a spirit of work in them, reducing dependency, and supporting the labor of poor families," the article says.
The head of Uzbekistan once again emphasized that 2025 will be a decisive year in reducing unemployment and poverty, and gave instructions for the systematic and targeted implementation of measures in this regard.
"In particular, the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment was instructed to strictly monitor the implementation of these tasks. It was determined that each project, each measure will be entered into an electronic platform, and the created jobs will be checked against the tax base," an article published in the An Nahar News newspaper said.
