Tashkent Medical University student saves passenger's life on plane

Thanks to the determination and professionalism of a student from Tashkent State Medical University, a human life was saved. This incident occurred in the air, at high altitude. His intellect, swift decision-making, and knowledge made it possible to take control of a dangerous situation.

On July 29, 2025, during the Tashkent–Delhi flight, an unexpected situation occurred. During the flight, one of the passengers — a 48-year-old woman — felt very unwell.

The flight crew took the situation seriously and made an announcement over the intercom: “If there is a doctor or medical worker on board, please inform the crew.”

At that moment, one of the students of the international faculty at Tashkent State Medical University — Indian citizen Muhammad Anis — introduced himself.

“Yes, I am a doctor, I can help,” replied the student and immediately approached the patient. The woman was extremely anxious, in a state of panic, her breathing was irregular, and her heart was racing.

Muhammad Anis first checked the patient’s vital signs. He determined that she was experiencing a tachycardia episode — rapid heartbeat.

Within seconds, he began carotid massage — one of the commonly used emergency techniques for stabilizing heart rhythm.

Approximately 10–15 seconds later, the woman’s condition began to improve. She calmed down, her heart rate normalized, and her breathing stabilized.

The plane continued its flight. Muhammad Anis kept monitoring the woman’s condition. The crew and passengers were amazed by his professionalism.

Upon landing in Delhi, the woman was handed over to medical personnel. Her condition remained stable.

This incident clearly demonstrated what kind of knowledge and skills young students studying medicine possess, and how deeply they understand responsibility.

The student’s action not only saved a life, but also deeply impressed the other passengers. This was evident in their words and grateful looks.

Such situations remind us that human life can be at risk at any moment. Any specialist, especially in medicine, must be ready at all times.

Thanks to the courage, quick thinking, and skilled approach of Muhammad Anis, a family did not lose their mother, and a child did not lose their mom.

The administration of Tashkent State Medical University expressed their gratitude to him. Other students at the university also took pride in this incident.

His actions demonstrated not only medical knowledge, but also humanity. Because being a doctor is not just a profession — it is compassion, speed, and responsibility.
