President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a decision to reduce customs duties on imported goods. According to the decision, the customs duty on coffee will be reduced from 10 percent to 0 percent.
The new rates will also apply to the following products: household candles — 10 percent, plastic and wooden containers — 10 percent, carpets and floor coverings — 10 percent, blankets and plaids — 5 percent, and fabrics intended for home use — 5–10 percent. Additionally, a 10 percent customs duty will remain in place for porcelain and ceramic dishes, glassware, decorative items, metallic kitchen utensils, and tableware.
Previously, the customs duties on these products ranged between 15 and 20 percent. The primary goal of these changes is to enhance international cooperation, strengthen Uzbekistan's integration into global value chains, and attract major international retail chains.
The document states that the new tariffs will only apply when goods are directly imported through brand owners or their official distributors, dealers, and licensees.
