Afghan gold is processed in Termez and exported as finished products

For the first time, a new practice has been established in the Surkhandarya region, where gold raw materials imported from Afghanistan are processed at the expense of local capacities. Until now, gold raw materials that have passed through Afghanistan to other countries in transit are now being included in the production chain in Uzbekistan, more precisely, under the "processing in the customs territory" regime.
In this regard, a meeting was held in the "Termez International Trade Center" free trade zone with the participation of the management of "Termiz Gold Production" LLC, specializing in the production of jewelry, and representatives of a gold mining enterprise in Afghanistan. During the dialogue, the parties discussed areas of cooperation, logistics, and the systematization of the processing process.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the gold raw materials, which were previously in transit, will now be processed directly in Termez. That is, raw materials are not a "transitory resource," but are transformed into a product that creates added value.
According to the plan, this process will primarily involve the production of semi-finished jewelry. Then they are exported as finished products with high added value. And this is not just ordinary trade - it is an industrial chain, jobs, tax revenues, and most importantly, the culture of local production.
It was reported that within the framework of the project, gold raw materials weighing 20 kilograms, with a total value of 2.9 million US dollars, were involved in the processing process as an initial batch. This volume is a significant indicator for the pilot phase and signals that "this work has begun not on paper, but in practice."
In short, this step in Termez opens the door to new industrial opportunities for Surkhandarya: not just selling raw materials, but converting them into value and bringing them to the world market. At such times, the economy looks beautiful not with "words," but with "work."
