Gadgets and eye cancer: Expert response to worrying news in Uzbekistan
Recently, reports have been circulating on social networks about an increase in eye cancer cases among children in Uzbekistan. It is said that this problem is associated with excessive use of gadgets. But how true is this information? How do gadgets affect human health, in particular, the eyes? Experts have expressed their clear opinion on this issue.

The truth about oncological diseases and eye cancer

According to the head physician of the Republican Clinical Hospital for Eye Diseases, Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences Otabek Ikramov, oncological diseases are becoming one of the most pressing problems today. According to the World Health Organization, one in three patients diagnosed with oncology dies within a year. This means that the disease should be taken seriously.

In the last decade, the incidence of tumors has increased significantly, and this process is also observed in the organs of vision. Eye cancer accounts for one percent of all oncological diseases. Four cases of this disease occur per 100,000 people worldwide. This indicates that the issue should be taken seriously.

Is there a connection between eye cancer and gadgets?

Many people believe that gadgets cause eye cancer. However, this is not confirmed information. In scientific studies conducted in 2020 in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, specialists from the University of Essen in Germany proved that mobile phones and other gadgets do not cause cancer by irradiating the human eye.

What are the main causes of eye cancer?

Scientists and experts have listed the main factors that affect eye cancer as follows:
  • Hereditary factors - if there is a family history of cancer, the susceptibility to eye cancer may be higher.
  • Environmental factors - environmental pollution and harmful chemicals have a negative impact on human health.
  • Certain viral infections - some viruses can cause tumors in people with weakened bodies.

How do gadgets affect health?

Although gadgets do not cause eye cancer, it is true that they have an effect on the eyes. According to ophthalmologists, prolonged use of screens can lead to "dry eye" syndrome. This can lead to constant eye fatigue, redness, and decreased vision.

Preventive measures recommended by ophthalmologists for children and adults:
  • Children should not use gadgets for more than 2 hours a day.
  • Use special eye moisturizers for those who work on a computer.
  • Take your eyes off the screen every 20 minutes, look into the distance, and rest your eye muscles.
  • Regularly visit an ophthalmologist to monitor your eye health.

In the current era of digital technologies, gadgets have become an integral part of our lives. It is impossible to completely limit their use, but it is necessary to follow the norm to maintain health.

Studies by German scientists show that gadgets do not cause eye cancer. However, they can harm eye health if used for a long time. Therefore, to avoid oncological diseases, it is necessary not only to use gadgets in moderation, but also to pay attention to general health.

The best approach to health is to follow the rules and undergo regular medical examinations.
