In the city of Astana (Kazakhstan), from June 30 to July 7, a world-class boxing tournament — the “World Boxing” organization’s cup — is being held. Strong and experienced boxers from different countries are participating in this prestigious competition. Among them are athletes representing the honor of our homeland.
Today, the first matches of the tournament kicked off, and the atmosphere around the ring has already become heated. The members of the Uzbekistan national team are also entering the competition with high spirit and serious preparation.
One of the most anticipated clashes for fans was the bout in the -60 kg weight category between our compatriot Sitora Turdibekova and the Turkish athlete Gizem Ozer. The powerful punches and defensive strategies of both sides created an atmosphere of uncompromising battle in the ring. Unfortunately, after a full five rounds, the fight ended with a judge’s decision: Turdibekova was declared defeated with a score of 1:4.
Despite this loss, Sitora’s fighting spirit and determined actions earned a place in the hearts of fans. Each fight in her career becomes a foundation for future experience and success.
Also, other compatriots scheduled to fight today did not get the opportunity to enter the ring. However, tomorrow the next stage of the tournament will begin, and a number of our athletes will try their luck. Among them are both experienced and young boxers in different weight categories.
There is no doubt that the “World Boxing” cup is not only a test of physical readiness but also a trial of mental endurance, strategy, and strong will. Our boxers continue to make their voices heard in this arena.
