"Katanets also felt unwell during the game in Qatar in November and asked the management to consider the option of resigning. Therefore, everyone agreed and finished that training camp together.

When it became clear that Katanets would not be able to attend the training camp in January, he sent an official letter to the UFA and stated that he would not be able to continue his work. Only after that did the UFA accept his resignation and they parted ways amicably.

The UFA management had to find an option in a short time that would not harm the national team at all. We were lucky. Timur Kapadze played for all the national teams, was an assistant in the national team, and later worked as the head coach of the Olympic team. Everyone understood that there was no better candidate than Kapadze. But even then, everything has its own order. The UFA convened a council of coaches, presented candidates, and I must say that "100 percent of everyone approved the Timur Kapadze option. There were also foreign coaches among the candidates. At the same time, it became clear that Timur Kapadze was the most suitable coach in all respects. I think this was logical, because after the Olympic team, the players also move to the national team.
