Riyadh 2025: Uzbekistan Wins First Taekwondo Medals


November 16, 2025. At the Islamic Solidarity Games taking place in Riyadh, Uzbek taekwondo athletes have secured their first medals, continuing to strengthen the team’s overall standing.

Jahongir Khudoyberdiev and Najmiddin Qosimkhodjayev successfully represented Uzbekistan, showcasing their abilities on the international stage. Uzbekistan's first medal was brought home by Jahongir Khudoyberdiev.

After advancing through the preliminary stages, Khudoyberdiev faced a decisive match for the bronze medal against a representative from Turkey. His precise and confident performance led to victory, earning him the bronze medal.

Following this initial success, another medal was added to Uzbekistan’s tally. Najmiddin Qosimkhodjayev reached the final in the -74 kg weight category.

In the final bout, he competed against Jordanian Olympic finalist Zaid Abdul Karim. Despite a closely contested and high-paced match, Qosimkhodjayev narrowly fell short, conceding the victory to his opponent.

Nonetheless, he claimed the silver medal at the Islamic Solidarity Games, reaffirming his potential as a promising taekwondo athlete.
