Uzhydromet has published a weather forecast for January 2026. According to experts, sharp temperature fluctuations are expected throughout the month, with cold and relatively warm periods alternating.
According to the forecast, dry and stable weather will persist throughout Uzbekistan on January 1-2. However, on January 3, as a result of the influx of humid air masses from the Caspian Sea, rain is expected in the republic, and in some places, precipitation may turn to snow. The probability of precipitation in the central and southeastern regions will persist overnight and in the morning of January 4. In the following days, that is, by the end of the first ten days, the probability of precipitation across the republic will significantly decrease.
The air temperature in the first ten days will be mainly at night from -2 to 3 degrees Celsius, and in some places down to 5 degrees Celsius. The daytime temperature will decrease from 8-13°C to around 0-5°C.
In the second ten-day period, the air temperature will be more variable. East wind 7-12 m/s. Temperature at night 1-6°C above zero to 1-6°C below zero, in the daytime 10-15°C above zero to 2°C below zero to 3°C above zero. In the north of the republic, nighttime temperatures will be 5-10 degrees below zero, in some areas down to 13-15 degrees below zero.
In the third ten days of the month, there is a high probability of cold waves entering. East wind 7-12 m/s. Temperature at night 7-12 ̊C below zero, in some places down to 15-20 ̊C below zero. In the north of the republic, the temperature will decrease further, dropping to 15-20°C at night, and in some areas to 22-25°C below zero. During the daytime, the weather will also be cold, with possible gusts up to 3-10 degrees below zero.

Experts note that January in Uzbekistan is usually characterized by a frequent alternation of cold and warm periods. Years when severe frosts persist throughout the entire month are rare. The coldest January in the history of observations occurred in 1969 and 2008, when the air temperature was 8-12 degrees below normal. In recent decades, on the contrary, warm January months have become more frequent.
Over the past 25 years, in January 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2024, the temperature in most of the republic was 3-6 degrees above normal. Experts cite the growing influence of global warming processes as the reason for this. Especially in January, as a result of precipitation falling mostly in the form of rain, snow cover on the plains and in the foothills remains short-lived or does not form at all.
Therefore, in January 2026, it is recommended that the population be prepared for relatively warm days along with cold waves and act in accordance with sharp weather changes.
