In the 16th round of the English Premier League, Arsenal defeated Wolverhampton 2-1 in a home match. The game was decided by intense moments in the final minutes.
Initially, the Gunners controlled the ball and intensified their attacks through the flanks. However, the Wolves focused heavily on defense, effectively closing off the penalty area.
Despite frequent passing attempts by Arsenal, their shots lacked precision. As a result, the first half ended goalless.
In the second half, the hosts increased their offensive pressure and earned more corner kicks. Wolverhampton's goalkeeper, Johnston, made several crucial saves following shots from Declan Rice to keep his team in the game.
Later, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta introduced Odegaard and Trossard to refresh the attacking line. In the 70th minute, Saka's free-kick delivery hit the goalpost, rebounded off goalkeeper Johnston, and resulted in an own goal.
With this, Arsenal took the lead. However, during extra time, the hosts shifted to defensive play, giving Wolverhampton a chance to equalize.
Mane delivered a cross into the box, and Arokodare headed the ball into the net to equalize at 1-1. Shortly after, Saka delivered another cross from the right flank.
Although Gabriel Jesus could not reach the ball, Wolverhampton defender Mosquera accidentally headed the ball into his own net. This second own goal secured a 2-1 victory for Arsenal.
Following this incident, Mosquera received a yellow card for arguing with the referee.
