Trump issued a sharp warning to Iran: negotiation time is shrinking

US President Donald Trump urged Iran to hurry to negotiate a nuclear deal, warning that "time is running out." This statement was made at a time when the number of US military forces in the Persian Gulf was steadily increasing.

In his social media message, the White House leader emphasized that the "giant armada" is moving rapidly towards Iran, setting off with great strength, enthusiasm, and determination. According to Trump, he wants Iran to quickly sit down at the negotiating table and conclude a "fair and equal deal," emphasizing the "nuclear-weapon-free" format as a key condition for this agreement.

Iran, however, maintains its traditional position: Tehran has repeatedly denied its intention to develop nuclear weapons, stating that its nuclear program is purely peaceful. At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi stated that conducting diplomacy through military threats is ineffective and said that if negotiations should have a real and clear form, it is necessary to abandon threats, unnecessary demands, and illogical questions.

Trump's attention was also drawn to the fact that he compared the size of the naval forces in the Persian Gulf with the troops sent to Venezuela. He emphasized that the current deployment exceeds the forces sent to Venezuela before the capture of Nicolas Maduro. The US President added that these forces "are ready to fulfill their mission quickly, if necessary, using force."

The root of the problem lies in the Iranian nuclear agreement signed in 2015. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was established with the mediation of the European Union between Iran and the P5+1 group - the USA, Russia, China, Great Britain, France, and Germany. Its purpose was to guarantee the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions.

However, in 2018, the Trump administration unilaterally withdrew the US from the agreement, stating that the document did not sufficiently take into account Iran's missile program and its influence in the region. Following this, Washington reinstated strict economic sanctions against Tehran. Although officially the JCPOA still exists, in practice it is not fully functional, and negotiations to revive it have continued at different times with different results.

The point that makes the situation more sensitive is the information that in the summer of 2025, the US Air Force, together with allies, carried out major strikes on the three main targets of the Iranian nuclear program - Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan. In response, Iran reportedly struck a US military base in Qatar with ballistic missiles. Later, the use of force was stopped, and the situation stabilized to some extent, but the overall background still remains complex.

The conclusion is that as the parties try to accelerate each other with pressure, even a small mistake can turn into a major crisis. Therefore, the main question in recent months is one - will diplomacy truly prevail, or will the door to new tensions open again? The main thing is that if the negotiations are based on genuine, transparent, and clear rules, the risks to the region will be reduced - otherwise, it is possible that each statement will return as a new wave.
