
On December 26, 2023, at 21:17, tremors were recorded in Uzbekistan. The natural event was felt especially in the Fergana region, where the earthquake intensity was about 2 points.
According to seismological data, the epicenter was located near neighboring Batken, in Kyrgyzstan. The earthquake’s magnitude was 3.2, and the source of the underground shaking occurred at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
Specialists note that the distance from the epicenter to Tashkent was approximately 277 kilometers. Therefore, the tremors were barely felt in the capital or were recorded only very weakly.
According to reports, there were no messages about damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake. Experts emphasize that tremors of this strength occur quite often in the region, but they do not pose a serious threat to people’s lives.
At the same time, residents living in seismically active areas are reminded to remain cautious and follow emergency recommendations.
