The longest solar eclipse of the century is approaching

The last solar eclipse, unprecedented in the last hundred years, will occur on August 2, 2027. This was reported by The Daily Galaxy, citing NASA forecasts.

According to reports, during this unique astronomical event, in some countries, daytime turns into almost complete night for slightly more than six minutes. The Moon's shadow moves over Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Astronomers note that the total solar eclipse will begin in Morocco and southern Spain, pass through Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, and cover almost the entire territory of Egypt. Then the shadow moves to the Middle East.

The most favorable and effective observation conditions are expected to be in the Egyptian cities of Luxor and Aswan. It is said that daytime darkness in these places lasts more than 6 minutes and will go down in history as the longest total solar eclipse in the 21st century.

During the eclipse, a number of strange phenomena are observed: the Sun completely disappears behind the lunar disk, the air temperature drops significantly, stars begin to appear in the sky, and the outer layer of the Sun - the solar corona - becomes clearly visible.

Experts emphasize that the duration of a total solar eclipse depends on the relative positions of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. In 2027, this position will be almost perfect, so the eclipse will last 6 minutes and 23 seconds. The next such event on a similar scale is expected to occur only in 2045.
