In the headline match of Serie A round 17, Inter edged Atalanta away from home. The game in Bergamo ended 1–0.
In the first half, the Milan side enjoyed more possession: Inter controlled the tempo more often and approached the opponent’s box regularly. However, they couldn’t break the deadlock before the break — one goal scored against the hosts was ruled out for offside after a VAR check.
The pace increased after the restart as the Nerazzurri played more boldly and stepped up the press. On the 66th minute, the pressure paid off: Djimsiti made a mistake in a pass, Esposito pounced on the ball and set up Lautaro Martinez in a great position. The visitors’ captain took his chance and scored the only goal.
Conceding forced Atalanta to push forward more actively. The hosts delivered more balls into the box and tried to intensify attacks down the flanks, but Inter’s defense stayed solid and didn’t allow an equalizer.
Late on, the Milan side slowed the tempo and saw the game out through ball control. Atalanta failed to create truly dangerous chances in front of Sommer’s goal.
