Inter Milan executive Giuseppe Marotta responded to Antonio Conte’s sharp comments about the balance of power in Serie A. This was reported by euro-football.rureports.
Napoli head coach Conte had previously stressed that Inter, Juventus and Milan are far ahead of the rest of Italy’s teams in terms of resources.
According to Marotta, Conte’s statement caught his attention, but on the eve of Christmas he does not want to get into an argument. “Antonio is a great coach and a skilled communicator. He knows very well how to reduce pressure and shift attention away from his team,” the Inter chief told DAZN.
Marotta also emphasized that he sees Napoli as the main favorite in Serie A: they are the reigning champions, kept the squad and made major signings. In addition, the team has stability — the coach has been in charge for a second season.
Speaking about Inter, Marotta said the club has changed its model and started investing in young players, adding that they will still fight until the end of the season.
On Sunday, Inter beat Atalanta 1–0 and moved to the top of the Serie A table. The Milan side are 1 point ahead of Milan and 2 points ahead of Napoli.
