Uzbekistan’s national team will hold its January training camp in Dubai, but captain Eldor Shomurodov and Manchester City defender Abduqodir Husanov will not take part. The National Football Association reported this.
According to the statement, the coaching staff led by head coach Fabio Cannavaro allowed the overseas-based players to skip the camp so they can focus on matches for their clubs. This period comes ahead of the decisive stage of European leagues.
With the leaders absent, 26 players have been given the chance to prove themselves. The squad is largely made up of players from the domestic league, and there are also new call-ups from the Super League — including OKMK’s Aziz Xolmuradov and Navbahor player Kuvondiq Roziyev.
The UAE preparations will take place on 20–30 January and are considered one of the key stages ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
