Klopp close to Real: how Perez views the idea of appointing him

Former Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp remains one of the leading candidates to become Real Madrid’s next manager. According to reports circulating around journalist Fabrizio Romano, the feeling toward Klopp in Madrid is very positive — he is “highly valued” inside the club.
It is reported that club president Florentino Pérez also rates the German coach’s working style highly, and the idea of bringing him to the Bernabéu has always been one of the options regularly discussed. In other words, at Real, Klopp is a “never-outdated” candidate.
At the same time, Pérez also views the Zinedine Zidane option positively. However, reports say the French coach is considered close to an agreement (or has a prior understanding) to take over the France national team after the 2026 World Cup.
Klopp’s current job is also noteworthy: since January 1, 2025, he has been working within the Red Bull system as Head of Global Football Operations (or Global Football). Official information states that he is strategically responsible for several clubs and football projects.
As a reminder, the “Royal Club” recently announced the end of its cooperation with Xabi Alonso and handed the team over to Álvaro Arbeloa on an interim basis (or as the new head coach).
In short, everything is changing fast at Real: Arbeloa is the face of the “transition period,” while Klopp is one of the biggest names for a major decision. The intrigue is simple: when will Pérez press the “big-name coach” button?
