Former Fenerbahce player criticizes Mourinho for not keeping his word

Former Fenerbahce midfielder Lincoln expressed strong opinions about Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho. The specialist managed the Istanbul club during the 2024–2025 seasons. This was reported by euro-football.ru.newsreports.

According to Lincoln, Mourinho did not fulfill his promise and showed disrespect towards the player. “He has won a lot, no one denies that. But for me, character in life is more important than trophies. Mourinho surprised me,” he told Fanatik.

The player emphasized that before being loaned to Hull City, he spoke with Mourinho, who promised to invite him to the summer training camp in Portugal. “After the season ended, I awaited the call. I tried to contact Mourinho through a translator, but he did not want to talk and told me to reach out to the sports director,” Lincoln said.

He stated that while the team was in Portugal for training, he was also staying at his home in Portugal, yet Mourinho sent him to Istanbul to train separately. “I was treated unfairly and disrespectfully. Even if I wasn’t in my position in many games, I gave my all to benefit the club,” said the player.

Lincoln added that he expected support after a severe injury but did not feel it. “I am not a famous player like others, but I have always worked to the end on the field,” he concluded.

Currently, Jose Mourinho is managing Benfica.
