Russia allocated over 43 billion rubles to the VK Video project

The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia has allocated more than 39.5 billion rubles in 2025 for the creation and development of a national video platform. Ixbt.com reports this.
An additional amount of over 4 billion rubles was directed toward the creation of a multifunctional information exchange service. Both directions are associated with the "VK" group of companies.
According to sources from the "Kommersant" publication, the national video platform is essentially "VK Video." The funds were allocated through the "Unified Video" structure, and this platform has become a separate project with state participation.
The information exchange service is reportedly linked to the "Max" messenger. In June 2025, a law on the creation of such a service came into force in Russia.
IT industry representatives note that the significant difference in funding is explained by the fact that the video platform is technologically more complex. It requires the development of infrastructure, servers, and advertising systems.
