Hearts' dream fades: Celtic wins the Scottish Premiership

The fate of the Scottish Premiership season went down to the final matchday, with the decider unfolding in dramatic fashion. Hearts, who led the title race for a long time, fell short at the final hurdle.

In the 38th round, Celtic hosted Hearts. The match took place at the famous Celtic Park in Glasgow, where the hosts secured a 3-1 victory. This result crowned Celtic as Scottish champions once again.

Before the game, the situation looked favorable for Hearts. The team was very close to the title with 80 points, while the reigning champions Celtic were chasing with 82 points. For the visitors, even a draw could have been enough for a historic result.

But football once again showed its cruel and unpredictable side. Hearts suffered a heavy blow just one step away from a title they had been waiting 66 years for.

Lawrence Shankland opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, giving Hearts fans great hope. However, in stoppage time of the first half, Celtic earned a penalty. Arne Engels converted it in the 45+3rd minute to level the score.

The tension intensified in the second half. A draw would have been enough for Hearts to secure a historic title. But the final minutes of the game turned into a nightmare for the visitors.

In the 88th minute, Daizen Maeda put Celtic ahead. This goal dealt a serious blow to Hearts' long-awaited dream. In the 90+8th minute, Osmajic added another goal to seal the match at 3-1.

Thus, Hearts lost the championship in the final moments. The team fought all season, led the table, and gave their fans great hope, but could not hold on at the most crucial moment.

Celtic, meanwhile, proved their strength once again. The Glasgow club became Scottish champions for the 5th consecutive time and the 56th time overall, reaffirming their dominance in domestic football.

Notably, Celtic has won the title 14 times in the last 15 seasons. These numbers clearly demonstrate how consistent and powerful the Glasgow side is in the domestic league.
