Perplexity AI challenges Google with a new Android assistant

Perplexity has launched its new Perplexity Assistant for Android, aiming to simplify users’ daily lives by handling a wide range of tasks.

Perplexity Assistant can answer questions, book tables, set reminders, draft emails, and even identify objects using the device’s camera.

Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, showcased the assistant’s capabilities on social media, highlighting its ability to understand user intentions and perform various tasks. However, the assistant is not yet fully integrated with all services, such as OpenTable.

The company is working to enhance the tool. In the near future, Perplexity Assistant will be able to access Gmail and Calendar data, providing notifications about meetings and summarizing emails.
