Environmental Police to Be Established in Uzbekistan

The Environmental Police Service is being launched in Uzbekistan. This new entity will be established in accordance with a presidential decree and resolution issued on November 19, 2025.

Officers of the Environmental Police will be authorized to use force, special equipment, and service weapons. Additionally, they will be equipped with special body cameras.

The Environmental Police will be part of the newly established National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change. This organization will oversee environmental protection measures and monitor compliance with ecological regulations by companies and government agencies.

Personnel will have the authority to inspect adherence to environmental requirements. They will operate similarly to regular law enforcement agencies by utilizing physical force and specialized tools when necessary.

The Environmental Police will function independently from other state agencies, and any interference in their operations is strictly prohibited. Officers will hold the status of state inspectors and will be granted special ranks as well as additional compensation.
