A clear explanation has been given why Damas and Labo cars are being detained in Bukhara

Reports circulated on social media and in some online publications stating that hundreds of Damas and Labo cars were detained without documents in the Shofirkon district. The Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs provided an official explanation regarding this situation.

It was established that on January 7, 2026, at 14:12, a doctor from the Shafirkan district hospital received a complaint from the internal affairs bodies about a traffic accident in the area. As a result of the incident, a minor citizen M.T., born in 2011, was brought to a medical facility with various bodily injuries.

During the pre-investigation check, it was revealed that the child, while riding a bicycle, collided with a white Damas car coming from behind, and the driver, without providing first aid to the victim, left him in danger and fled the scene.

Based on this situation, in order to quickly solve the crime and find the suspected vehicle and driver, operational-search and procedural measures were carried out in the manner prescribed by law. In particular, white Damas and Labo cars moving in the Shafirkan district were inspected.

According to the official information, these vehicles were temporarily stopped only for inspection purposes and inspected in the prescribed manner. Cars in which violations were not detected were immediately returned to their owners, and preventive awareness-raising work was also carried out with drivers.

Also, as of 00:00 on January 9, 2026, as a result of the forensic examination, it was established that the suspect in the accident was B.U., born in the Gijduvan district. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on January 7, 2026, around 11:50 a.m., and the suspect admitted his guilt.

A white Damas car belonging to him was also found. Currently, appropriate procedural measures are being taken on this fact within the framework of current legislation.

The Bukhara Regional Department of Internal Affairs also stated that the information provided in some reports that "the drivers were detained for a long time, even if they were transporting sick citizens or were traveling to visit their elderly parents" was not officially confirmed. It is noted that no appeals or complaints on this matter have been received by the internal affairs bodies.

It was noted that all the measures taken were carried out in strict accordance with the requirements of the current legislation in order to ensure the safety of citizens, solve crimes, and ensure the rule of law.
