A unified traffic management center will be established in Tashkent. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev supported this initiative during a presentation on the development of the capital’s transport system.
The center will analyze the flow of transportation and pedestrians, manage the intelligent transport system, and oversee parking facilities, charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, as well as the city's transport planning. In recent years, Tashkent’s public transport network has significantly expanded: the number of buses has grown to nearly 1,900, intervals have been reduced to 15 minutes, and the metro network has expanded to 70.5 kilometers with 50 stations.
The new center will utilize cameras, sensors, GPS data, and artificial intelligence to predict traffic congestion, optimize routes, adjust traffic lights, and mobilize rapid response services for traffic incidents. This project aims to reduce travel time, alleviate traffic jams, and ensure timely response by emergency services.
The pilot phase of this project is planned to be launched this year, with nationwide expansion scheduled by 2030.
