Cold to intensify in Uzbekistan in the second half of the week, with rain and snow

According to Uzhydromet, the new week will start calmer for most: on Monday and Tuesday, dry weather is expected across much of the country. But by midweek the picture will change—rain and snow will return, and temperatures will gradually fall.

Where could it snow on January 19?

On Monday, snow is only likely in Navoi Region. In addition, light snow may be observed in the morning in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm Region. Elsewhere, mostly dry weather will persist.

January 20: precipitation possible in the southwest in the evening

On Tuesday, skies will be clearer in many places. Only in the country’s southwestern areas could precipitation (rain, snow) occur in the evening.

January 21–23: rain and snow return

On Wednesday and the following days—between January 21 and 23—intermittent precipitation (rain, snow) is expected across most of Uzbekistan. So closer to the weekend, roads may be wet and slippery in some places.

How will temperatures change?

In the first half of the week:

  • at night –3…+2°C,
  • during the day around +3…+8°C.

In the second half of the week, the cold will noticeably intensify:

  • at night down to –2…–7°C,
  • during the day expected to drop to –2…+3°C.

Colder in Karakalpakstan

In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, temperatures during the week will mostly be –8…–13°C at night and around 0…–5°C in the daytime. By January 23, daytime temperatures may rise to +3°C.

Fog, strong winds, and hazardous conditions in the mountains

Fog is possible in some areas. On January 21–22, wind speeds may increase to 13–18 m/s in parts of the country. In mountainous areas, snow will fall at times and avalanche risk will remain—extra caution on mountain roads is crucial on such days.

Tashkent: dry first, then rain and snow

In the capital, no precipitation is expected on January 19–21:

  • at night –2…+1°C,
  • on Monday and Tuesday daytime +3…+6°C,
  • and on Wednesday +7…+9°C, the forecast says.

Fog may form at night and in the morning; easterly wind 3–8 m/s.

On January 22–23, intermittent precipitation (rain, snow) is expected in Tashkent:

  • on January 22, temperatures at night and during the day 0…+2°C,
  • on January 23, at night –3…–6°C, during the day around 0°C.

Fog is also possible on these days; easterly wind 3–8 m/s.

In summary, the week will start in a “calm mode,” but after midweek the weather will turn: rain and snow, colder air, and strong winds in some areas. Planning ahead can save nerves both on the road and at work.
