German engineer lives 120 days underwater at 11 meters depth
German engineer Rüdiger Koch lived for 120 days in a special capsule off the coast of Panama, setting a new record for the longest time spent underwater, reports The Guardian.

The capsule where Koch stayed measured 30 square meters, was submerged 11 meters deep, and was equipped with all modern conveniences, including a bed, toilet, TV, computer, and even exercise equipment.

The capsule’s electricity was generated using solar panels, with a backup generator available. According to reports, Koch’s capsule was connected to an underwater room that delivered food supplies. Visitors, including doctors, used this room as well.

Koch broke the record of American Joseph Dituri, who spent 100 days underwater. The new record was immediately certified by Guinness World Records representatives.

It was revealed that Koch is a fan of Captain Nemo, a character from Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Even underwater, he kept the book close. According to the record holder, this experiment aimed to prove that humans can live underwater.
