In India, doctors encountered an astonishing case — 526 extra teeth were removed from the mouth of a 7-year-old boy.
In recent months, the child had been complaining of severe pain in his lower jaw. X-ray and CT scans revealed a tumor in the oral cavity containing numerous small teeth.
Specialists stated that this condition needed to be treated urgently with surgery. During a complex operation that lasted several hours, all the extra teeth were successfully removed. Doctors reported that the boy’s condition is now satisfactory.
The exact causes of the mutation are still unknown. Doctors suggested that the anomaly could be the result of some hereditary disease.
It should be noted that the last time such a case was observed in India was in 2014. At that time, 232 extra teeth were surgically removed from a patient.
