Tourists flock to Italian town after TikTok video
The Italian ski resort of Roccaraso (located in the Abruzzo region in the east of the country) has seen an unprecedented influx of tourists thanks to a video that went viral on TikTok. On Sunday, January 26, more than 10,000 people visited the town in 260 buses. Most of them came from the Naples and Campania regions.

The influx of tourists began after Rita De Crescenzo, a blogger with 1.7 million subscribers on TikTok, posted several videos and photos of the town's views on the network. The video received many likes and comments. In turn, local travel agencies quickly noticed the interest in the town and launched cheap buses to Roccaraso for 20-30 euros, including breakfast. For many tourists, this was a real problem, because a one-day ski pass in Roccaraso usually costs twice as much - 60 euros.

Mayor Francesco Di Donato said that the resort had never seen such an influx of tourists even on the busiest days. Usually, during the winter season, the town attracts 20,000 skiers, while another 15,000 people visit simply for sightseeing. However, the arrival of more than two hundred unregistered buses exceeded all norms. Therefore, a decision was made to limit the number of tourist buses to 100 on Saturdays and Sundays. Advance reservations are required to enter the town.

Some Internet users considered the mayor's action to be an insult to tourists from Naples. Di Donato denied the accusations, stressing that Roccaraso welcomes tourists, but wants them to observe discipline.

"Roccaraso cannot handle the influx of tourists like it did on Sunday. We are not going to build 1,000 toilets in a ski resort," the mayor said.
