A federal judge, Carl Nichols, has issued a temporary order in response to a lawsuit filed by unions representing employees of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The judge granted the plaintiffs' motion, saying that if the Trump administration's plans are not halted, USAID employees could suffer significant harm.
The full details of the ruling have not yet been made public, including the fate of 500 USAID employees who have already been placed on administrative leave.
According to Reuters, Judge Nichols rejected other demands from the unions. These demands included restoring access to USAID facilities and restoring funding for the agency's grants and contracts.
On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump called for the closure of USAID. The agency's employees were informed a day earlier that only 611 of its more than 10,000 employees were scheduled to remain.
More than 2,000 employees were scheduled to be placed on administrative leave by midnight Friday. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
