University admission news brought her back to life: Henan girl woke up from a coma

18-year-old Jiang Chennan, a resident of Henan Province in China, opened her eyes from a coma after hearing the news that she had been admitted to university. This incident shook not only her family but also the entire Chinese public, reports Pravilamag.

On July 11, after taking the country’s most important exam — the Gaokao (national university entrance test) — Jiang Chennan went to the hospital with complaints of chest tightness and fever. She was diagnosed with a severe illness — fulminant myocarditis (rapid inflammation of the heart muscle), which is often life-threatening. She was transferred to another hospital, where she fell into a coma.

Her sister emphasized that their family has long been facing financial difficulties. The father, after a car accident in 2023, can only walk with a cane. The mother sells food on the street for a living. They also have a younger brother who is currently in middle school. Meanwhile, Jiang’s treatment expenses have exceeded 200,000 yuan (approximately 2.2 million Uzbek soums).

Eight days after falling into a coma, her father received the university admission letter. He brought it to the hospital and, with a mix of fear and hope, whispered to his daughter:
“We are all very happy — you got into university!” At that moment, he noticed her eyelids twitch.

The next day, Jiang Chennan came out of the coma. Doctors helped her connect with her parents via video call. She responded with an “OK” gesture using her finger — as if it was an answer to life, hope, and her dreams.

In an interview with journalists, her father said:
“Even though our financial situation is difficult, I will definitely send her to university. This is her life’s dream,” he said.
