The incident in China astonished the public. A 40-year-old amateur diver from Fujian Province went missing during a dive in a local river. His five-day disappearance and miraculous survival are reported by Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post.
It is known that on July 19, the man went diving with a friend and disappeared without a trace just five minutes after submerging. This river is not ordinary – it has an intricate system of underwater caves, with depths reaching several dozen meters in some places.
After the incident, local police and rescuers immediately launched a search operation. Professional divers were engaged, and extensive searches were conducted. However, five days of efforts brought no results.
Just as hope was fading, during another dive, the search divers accidentally encountered the missing man. He managed to signal them with a flashlight and attract their attention. This unexpected meeting was a real miracle for both the rescuers and the man who survived.
According to Tian Yanlin, the head of the rescue team, the man survived thanks to an “air pocket” inside one of the underwater caves. Despite the water depth, there was enough air there to breathe.
The survivor said that during these five days he completely lost track of time and managed to survive by eating raw fish despite hunger and hardship. What is most astonishing is that after being rescued, he was able to walk to the ambulance on his own, and the doctors assessed his condition as “satisfactory.”
This story is a true testament to human willpower, the struggle against nature, and miraculous rescue. Usually, the chances of survival for a person left unprotected are low, but this man’s courage and resilience once again proved how vital these qualities are for life.
