A nine-kilogram gold chandelier from the Titanic's smoking room has gone on display at a museum in New Jersey, the New York Post reports.

The chandelier was brought to shore in 1987 after 75 years at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. According to experts, this item, which decorated the first-class men's smoking room, is well preserved. The chandelier is on display at the exhibition along with about 250 other rare items from the ship.

The exhibition is organized in such a way that visitors can feel like passengers on the Titanic and follow the path of the liner from its construction to its disaster. The museum even has the opportunity to explore the reconstructed rooms and touch an artificial iceberg, feeling the cold as it was on the day of the tragedy.

The traveling exhibition was first shown in Boston. It was seen by an estimated 35 million people around the world. In New Jersey, it can be seen at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City until September 1.

A gold watch, previously given to the captain of the British steamer that saved more than 700 passengers of the Titanic, was sold at auction for 1.56 million pounds sterling. The watch was purchased by an American private collector.
