Hatred of Trump can be recognized as a mental illness
In Minnesota, five Republican senators are planning to introduce a bill that would classify "Trump Dissent Syndrome" (TDS) as a mental illness. The initiative would include excessive hatred of President Donald Trump and "acute onset of paranoia" against his policies under mental health laws, Newsweek reported.

The bill is scheduled to be introduced by Republican senators to the Minnesota Senate Health and Human Services Committee on March 17.

According to Republicans, the main symptoms of Trump intolerance syndrome include "general hysteria caused by Trump", verbal abuse, and aggressive and violent behavior towards Trump supporters. They believe that this syndrome leads many people to interpret Trump's political decisions as symptoms of mental illness.

However, this initiative is met with serious concern by health experts and civil society representatives. They fear that the politicization of mental health diagnoses will become a means of restricting people's freedom of political expression. There are also concerns that this initiative could lead to a decrease in attention to other real mental illnesses.

Earlier, White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt and communications director Stephen Cheung accused many Trump critics of this syndrome, but there was no attempt to adopt it as an official diagnosis.

While the discussion of the bill is expected to spark widespread debate not only in Minnesota but across the country, experts are concerned that the initiative will have a negative impact on the mental health sector.
