A major political symbol change took place in the Middle East — Syria has officially adopted a new state emblem, local media reported. Now, the country's symbol features a hawk with outspread wings, and above its head are three stars on a black background. The presentation of the new emblem was attended by President Ahmad al-Shar’a.
At the presentation ceremony, President Ahmad al-Shar’a delivered a historic speech: “Long, long ago, a legend was born about a city where many people lived. From that moment, the foundations of primitive history were laid, and as people grew more numerous, the need for rules appeared; thus, the laws of life were written and humanity’s first capital — Damascus — was built,” he said.
The new emblem was adopted as a symbol of the country’s independence, national values, and current development. The previous emblem featured an eagle with a shield, with the Syrian flag containing two stars. Now, the new symbol is seen as a harmony of history and modernity.
The hawk on the new emblem represents freedom and power, while the three stars symbolize national unity and independence. The stars on a black background above the bird's head reflect the country's new path and aspiration for the future.
