You might think nothing can surprise dog lovers anymore. But a shocking news story is circulating worldwide – a wolfdog named Okami has been sold for a record-breaking $5.7 million!
Okami is a rare hybrid. He was born from the crossbreeding of a real wolf and a Caucasian Shepherd. Although only eight months old, he already weighs more than 75 kilograms and stands 76 cm tall at the withers. His size and strength turned him into a social media star. Experts describe him as very intelligent and friendly despite his massive size.
Okami and His Owner
The dog's owner is S. Satish, a famous dog breeder from India who owns over 150 dog breeds. He bought Okami in February for 500 million rupees, becoming the owner of the most expensive dog in history.
“I spent 500 million rupees to buy this puppy because I love dogs, want to keep rare breeds at home, and introduce them to India,” Satish said.
Satish isn’t just a pet enthusiast. His dogs participate in shows, walk red carpets, and earn income through events and advertising appearances. Satish introduced Okami to the public during a movie premiere. The dog walked down the red carpet and instantly went viral. The event video gained over 3 million views in just a few days. Satish turned his passion into a profitable business, showcasing his dogs at various events.
All of Satish’s dogs live on a 7-hectare farm. There are spacious enclosures, toys, and dedicated caretakers. Six people take care of the dogs around the clock, monitoring their diet and health. The mild climate in Bangalore makes air conditioning unnecessary. Unlike many dog owners who rely on commercial food, Satish strictly follows a raw food diet for his dogs.
“Packaged dog food contains steroids that shorten lifespan. I feed all my dogs raw food. Okami eats three kilograms of raw chicken meat every day,” says Satish.
Besides the wolfdog, Satish also owns another rare dog – a chow chow with a rare coat that looks like a Chinese panda. He bought this dog last year for $3.25 million.

Okami is not just an expensive investment by a rich man but also a beloved pet who became a social media celebrity. Like any animal, he requires special care, attention, and love. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
