Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng announced at the 2025 Guangdong Development Conference that the company will invest 9.5 billion yuan ($1.3 billion) in R&D, with 4.5 billion yuan specifically allocated to artificial intelligence.
Xpeng has already invested over 50 billion yuan ($6.8 billion) in research and innovation. According to He Xiaopeng, a breakthrough in autonomous driving could revolutionize China’s automotive industry within the next five years, potentially even surpassing the impact of electric vehicles.
