As the acute geopolitical situation in the East continues, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in an interview with The Washington Post, appealed to President Donald Trump for assistance with new missiles and defense systems. Syrskyi emphasized that Ukraine currently faces a serious shortage of air defense systems and missile weaponry.
He specifically noted the necessity to abandon the Biden administration’s policy restricting strikes on targets within Russian territory. According to Syrskyi, if the US and European countries supply ATACMS, Patriot, Taurus, and other strategic weapons to Kyiv without restrictions, it would become a decisive factor in weakening Russia’s arms manufacturing infrastructure.
The general stated that new missiles and defense technologies would help Ukraine repel Russian air attacks, reduce their offensive capability, and strengthen the country’s security. He also mentioned that he expects support from the Trump administration on this issue, as well as clarity and determination in the policies being pursued.
According to Syrskyi, the presence of missiles is a direct deterrent for Russia. “I hope that, thanks to President Trump’s position, this process will be much easier and our previous difficulties will not repeat,” said the Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine.
