American company FusionFlight has unveiled Axion, the world’s first personal flying device powered by diesel fuel. With its futuristic design and advanced functions, Axion is being described as the beginning of a new era in modern aviation, according to Kursiv.media.
FusionFlight first introduced the AB5 JetQuad model in 2019. Later came the improved AB6 JetQuad, and now — Axion. Unlike electric engines, it uses microturbine jet engines, which can operate on diesel, kerosene, or aviation fuel.
Axion is a personal air vehicle about the size of a small car. Its maximum takeoff weight is 230 kg:
- dry weight — 70 kg,
- fuel — 80 kg,
- passenger or payload — 80 kg.

The drone is equipped with 8 jet engines, producing a total of up to 1097 N of thrust. This allows Axion to take off vertically, hover in place, and reach speeds of up to 362 km/h. It can fly as high as 10 km, with a flight duration of up to 15 minutes.
Safety is a major priority — even if one engine fails, the remaining ones allow for a safe landing.
Axion supports two control modes:
1. Manual — via dual joysticks;
2. Autonomous — destination selected on a touchscreen, and the drone flies on its own.

In autonomous mode, Axion can be used in emergencies to quickly deliver cargo or transport patients.
FusionFlight founder and CEO Alex Taits stated that ground tests have begun, with the first flight scheduled for the end of 2025. The device is made to order. Starting price: $290,000.
This innovation may redefine the very concept of personal air transport in the near future.
