Uzbekistan Secures Design Rights for BYD Automobiles


On November 14, 2025, vehicles manufactured by BYD Company Limited were officially registered as industrial designs in Uzbekistan. This signifies state recognition and protection of the distinctive appearance of the brand's vehicles.

An industrial design is a type of intellectual property. It focuses on protecting the external appearance of a product—its shape, lines, details, and other design elements—rather than its functionality.

To obtain this status, a product must meet two specific criteria. Once registered, the patent holder gains the right to protect their design from copying and utilize it at their discretion.

Applications for industrial design registration can be submitted through the Ministry of Justice's website.
