A five-year program to develop ecological cars is being implemented in Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced on December 26 in his address to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan that local electric cars will receive 12% auto loans, while foreign electric cars will receive 16% loans.
To establish electric car charging stations, entrepreneurs will receive 10% preferential loans and the opportunity to buy land at auctions at half the price. In addition, the portion of electricity cost exceeding 300 soums per kilowatt-hour at charging stations will be covered by the state.
Under the program, citizens providing taxi services with electric cars will also receive a number of benefits. It was noted that in October 2025, sales of electric cars in the secondary market increased by 15%.
The President also stated that the 4,000-kilometer-long highways connecting Andijan to Qo‘ng‘irot, Tashkent to Termiz, Samarkand to Shahrisabz, and Olot to Sariosiyo will be upgraded to international-standard roads. These roads will develop the transport system and support electric cars.
