Uzbekistan's Automotive Production Grows Amid Decline in Certain Models

Uzbekistan's automotive production grows, decline observed in some models

During the period from January to November 2025, the production volume of the Chevrolet Cobalt in Uzbekistan amounted to 148,100 units. This figure is slightly lower compared to the 149,800 units recorded during the same period last year. This data was published by the State Statistics Committee.

Meanwhile, the overall production of passenger cars in the country demonstrated growth. In the first 11 months of this year, 419,300 passenger cars came off the assembly line, compared to approximately 385,100 units during the same period in 2024. This indicates increased activity in the automotive industry and growing market demand.

The production of specialized vehicles showed particularly sharp growth, rising from 23,000 units last year to 49,400 units. Additionally, the production of the Tracker model increased from 40,700 units to 47,800 units. A rise was also noted in KIA vehicle production, which grew from 19,300 units to 24,500 units.

Chinese brands experienced significant growth as well. Chery production increased from 6,300 units to 8,600 units, Haval from 2,500 units to 8,900 units, and BYD saw a rise from 2,200 units to 17,500 units. This trend highlights that new brands are securing a strong foothold in the local market.

However, a decline was observed in some models. In particular, the production of Damas fell from 92,000 units to 85,400 units, and Onix decreased from 36,400 units to 29,100 units. The Gentra model was not produced at all during 2025.

The truck segment maintained positive dynamics, with production volumes increasing from 3,100 units to 4,100 units. Additionally, in 2025, Uzbekistan commenced production of the new Tank 500 model, and 50 units of this vehicle were produced during the year.

Overall, the first part of 2025 has been characterized as a period of growth, diversification, and intensified competition for Uzbekistan's automotive sector, underpinned by the emergence of new brands. While declines were registered for some models, the general outlook appears positive and promising.
