
Hamkorbank is set to receive a loan of $70 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Uzbekistan. Nearly half of the country's gross domestic product is contributed by SMEs, which also account for 80 percent of employment.
For the EBRD, developing this sector remains a priority. As of December 2025, the bank has financed 193 projects in Uzbekistan, with a total value exceeding $6.5 billion.
According to the State Statistics Committee, as of early November 2025, the number of active small businesses and microfirms stood at 395,700, which represents a 1.6 percent decrease compared to the previous year. In the third quarter of this year, Hamkorbank ranked third in the performance rating among Uzbekistan's banks.
Additionally, it also secured third place in financial capacity and profitability ratings.
